About
Late in 1992, Greg Bell partnered up with his friend Dale Metzger to form Two Fools Presents, a partnership that worked together on just a handful of small festivals and club shows before parting ways. But Greg was just getting started, and soon joined up with Jeff Guthrie in 1993, forming Guthrie/Bell Productions. Jeff left the business a few short years later, but continuing under the Guthrie/Bell name, Greg is now in his 30th year of bringing great live music to the people of the New York’s capital region. From shows in small clubs to theaters and festivals, Guthrie/Bell Productions strives to always treat both band and audience with the utmost respect and appreciation, and sees a live musical performance as an important, memorable experience for those both on the stage and in front of it, and not as a product. With a dedication to supporting the strong local music community, a desire to find great up and coming national acts, and a history with well known seasoned touring musicians, the wide range of talent found on the Guthrie/Bell concert calendar throughout the year is sure to have a little something for everyone!
Grapplin’ Greg: The Story of Greg Bell
A Documentary by Mirth Films
‘Grapplin’ Greg’ tells the story of Greg Bell, from how he fell in love with live music, to booking a couple small bar shows for friends, to events at venues like The Palace Theatre, Albany Armory and beyond. Greg Bell doesn’t just book shows, he has helped nurture a music scene that truly feels like a community. To tell the story, Mirth Films is in the process of speaking with musicians, venue owners, fans, promoters, family and friends that help piece together this three-decade legacy. Shot at venues like The Hollow in downtown Albany and the Palace Theatre with those that know him best, the interviews have proven to be full of stories both heartfelt and hilarious.
