Join us in welcoming one of Albany’s most talented bands, Hilltop to Lark Hall on Saturday, May 3rd.
Hilltop is a four piece Funk Rock band based in Albany, NY. The group consists of brothers Stephen & Reid Perry, and their friends Aris Nieuwkerk and Dave Klang. The Perry brothers started playing rock music in high school with Aris, who met keyboardist/founding member George Scherck at music school in Schenectady, NY. Reid and Dave met in Dobbs Ferry, NY at Mercy College, and Stephen studied percussion at SUNY Fredonia before transferring to Mercy. The five of them eventually started playing and writing before their first show in January of 2018 and released their self titled, self produced album a year later. George left the band in 2019 but the band has continued to grow as a quartet. With over 100 shows under their belt, Hilltop shows no signs of slowing down. Each member offers a proficient, unique approach to their instrument, defining the experience. This band of young musicians is ready to spread their music and will continue to engage crowds wherever they go.
Hailing from Norwalk, Connecticut, Residual Groove has rapidly made a name for themselves in the jam rock scene with their vibrant energy and musical prowess. Formed by brothers Kiran Edwards (keys/vox) and Previn Edwards (guitar/vox), the band is rounded out by the rhythmic talents of Henry Thomas (drums) and Garrett Halstead (percussion).
In 2024, Residual Groove released their highly anticipated debut album, In Dream Time, which was met with widespread acclaim from fans and peers alike. Their innovative sound and compelling live performances have earned them respect from established jam bands such as Goose, Eggy, and Neighbor, who have all praised the band’s unique blend of musicianship and creativity. Each performance showcases their dynamic ability to use structured songs as springboards for adventurous and well-executed improvisational passages. This seamless transition from one musical journey to the next keeps audiences enthralled and ensures each show is a unique experience.
Known for their electrifying stage presence and tight-knit chemistry, Residual Groove continues to captivate fans with their ability to explore uncharted musical territories while maintaining a cohesive sound. As they carve out their place in the Northeast rock/jam scene, Residual Groove is a band that promises to keep evolving and pushing the boundaries of their genre.
